Job Description

V2X is seeking a Principal RF Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting development and integration of advanced systems including situational awareness displays, mission computers, avionics, sensors, mission equipment, and radar systems. The Principal RF Systems Engineer will evaluate, analyze, integrate, maintain, and upgrade RF electronic capabilities for various air, sea, and ground platforms.


The Principal RF Systems Engineer will support the Chief Engineer and Program Manager in all aspects of product area execution and customer interface. The position requires in-depth technical domain knowledge, strong communication skills, and ability to build close customer relationships. The Principal RF Systems Engineer is also responsible to provide technical and programmatic guidance throughout the entire lifecycle to a multi-domain development team, including proactively driving resolutions of issues encountered. The Principal RF Systems Engineer also provides program support throughout the development life cycle, from concept development, requirements definition, functional analysis, design review support, system implementation, integration, verification, and validation.

Required Skills:
  • Experience providing leadership, technical direction, and guidance to multi-discipline teams.
  • Experience with installation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting Radio Frequency (RF) electronic systems and interfaces
  • Experience with RF antenna design and analysis including AESA and mechanically steerable arrays
  • Experience with RF network and spectrum analyzers
  • Ability and willingness for travel to support onsite integration/test events at different domestic and international locations.
  • Experience leading the development, integration and test of RF electronic systems or similarly complex systems onto air, sea, and/or ground platforms.
  • Experience leading RF requirements development, hardware and software integration, and requirements verification.
  • Experience developing technical baselines (requirements/architecture); leading development teams; and developing and reviewing Engineering Change Requests.
  • Experience leading technical Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and/or Trade Studies, performing Risk and Opportunity analyses, and tracking and mitigating risks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate to internal and external stakeholders including leading both internal and customer design reviews.
  • Experience creating Trade Studies and analyzing technical data.
  • Project management experience including cost, schedule, supplier management, risk, and opportunity assessment.
  • In-depth understanding of the System Engineering Lifecycle and processes.
  • Experience mentoring engineers of all grade levels.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Desired Skills:
  • Previous experience as a Lead Systems Engineer, Integrated Product Team Lead, and/or Product Owner.
  • Advanced understanding of RF circuit design concepts
  • Advanced understanding of RF antenna design concepts
  • Experience managing suppliers and overseeing the development of subsystems and components.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering methods, tools, and languages.
  • Experience working with government customers including the US Army, US Navy, USMC, and/or USAF.
  • Knowledge and experience working with digital data standards such as: MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, Radio Frequency (RF) communication, and ENET protocols.
  • Ability and willingness for travel to support onsite integration/test events at different domestic and international locations.
  • Current Active DoD Secret or higher Clearance
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline plus:
  • At least ten years of related engineering experience in systems, software, or hardware engineering
